One-on-One Mentoring

Be matched with a post-secondary student who shares your career interests, goals and experiences. Work through online modules together that help prepare you for life after high school.

How it works:

  1. Get matched to a mentor: each high school student is matched to their own mentor who is on a similar path in life and who can provide personalized advice. Mentors and mentees all create online profiles with their career and educational interests, hobbies, experiences, and personal preferences. Then the eMentoring staff matches each pair based on stuff they have in common in their profiles.

  2. Communicate with your match: talk to your match by writing them messages through our online platform, MentorCity. This is not like instant messaging - you can send messages whenever you want, though mentors must respond to their mentees within 3 days.

  3. Build your relationship: We know it can be hard to know what to talk to a mentor about, so we've built this program around a series of topics for mentees and mentors to discuss. We call this our curriculum: it contains 12 modules, called "Conversations", each with a different topic to help prepare students for life after high school. Mentors and mentees will watch videos, read articles, and do activities, and then discuss them. The program is totally customizable: students and educators can choose which Conversations to complete, and the order in which to complete them.
